Our Process

  1. Initial Contact & Assessment

When we receive a call from an exterminator, landlord, direct client, or agency on their behalf, the first step is to gather detailed information about the project. This includes understanding the condition of the home, the number of people living there, and the duration of the infestation.

This insight helps us identify any potential risks and barriers to the treatment process, and ensures a customized, effective approach.

2. Educatng the Client

During our visit to the home, we provide comprehensive education to the client about the infestation and the necessary steps for eradication. We also thoroughly assess the home and take detailed photographs that are used from the bidding process.

The rationale and education we provide to the client are critical for obtaining compliance and also help to significantly reduce the risk of re-infestation.

3. Estimate & Planning

After the assessment, we prepare and provide a detailed estimate for the required services. Once the estimate is approved, we begin coordinating with apartment complexes, exterminators, case workers, and waste management services, such as dumpsters.

Effective project management and scheduling are important at this stage to ensure that the treatment process proceeds without delay.

4. Preparation & Additional Services

Advanced Bed Bug Preparation carries out the necessary preparations as indicated in our PREP LIST. This may include removing carpets, discarding infested furniture, and any other additional services required to prepare the home for treatment.

Our goal is to create an environment that maximizes the effectiveness of the actual bed bug extermination process.

5. Ongoing Support & Post-Treatment Services

We continue to follow the project closely to ensure that the client is well-prepared for consecutive treatments. If needed, we will return to provide additional support, such as post-treatment cleaning or laundry services.

Once the exterminator determines that the home is "bed bug free," we return any laundered items and unpack totes if we have been hired to do so.

DIY VERSUS Professional Bed Bug Preparation

It takes the average person about a week or more to prepare their bed bug infested home for extermination. Do you have the time, energy, or physical capability to complete all the required steps? The likely answer to at least one of those is “no.” It’s important to note that all bed bug extermination companies require you to prepare your home prior to extermination and these steps must be done correctly.

Advanced Bed Bug Preparation will take care of all prepping requirements so that you are able to get back to living your life in a safe and timely manner - it takes us about ONE BUSINESS DAY. The steps prior to extermination are critical for successful eradication. These steps include de-cluttering, dismantling and moving furniture, stripping, bagging, and washing all linens, window treatments, and clothes, as well as boxing and storing all personal items unable to be laundered.

  • De-Clutter: Removing the clutter of your home is the first step in bed bug preparation. Bed bugs can hide and thrive is areas of clutter for months. Discarding newspapers and magazines and removing clothes and blankets from the floors in your home will help eliminate further transfer of bed bugs between rooms in your home.

  • Pack & Store: Packing and properly storing all items in your home that cannot be laundered or treated is the next step in total eradication of bed bugs in your home. Cardboard boxes are NOT recommended. All items must be securely and properly stored in plastic containers to ensure the bed bugs cannot elude extermination treatment and cause further infestation.

  • Dismantle & Move: If required, we will dismantle and move beds, mattresses, lamps, and additional bedroom and home furniture to ensure all items are ready for the extermination treatment. This process is critical due to the fact that the bed bugs are able to hide in areas of the furniture, avoiding treatment and thus re-infesting your home.

  • Strip, Remove, & Clean: We strip, bag, and remove all linens, drapery, and clothes in your home. We then expertly clean and vacuum all infested areas of your home.

  • Launder: We will securely pack all items able to be laundered and safely transport them to our washing facility where we will wash and dry your infested fabric items at the required heat to kill the bugs. After washing and drying your items, we will take care to fold and store them in bags before returning them to you. This process will take two weeks to ensure proper elimination. More on laundry treatment here.

  • Restore: After extermination treatment is complete and the bed bugs have been eliminated from your home, we offer a restoration service. During this process we will return your items and assist in the unpacking and replacing of your personal items. We will clean and put together dismantled furniture, hang drapery, put away clean clothing and personal items that were stored.
